Stingrays revised coaching structure for 2026
Hey Stingrays,
I hope everyone is staying warm, especially with these cold days we’ve been having!
As we prepare for the upcoming summer swim season, the Board has spent time thoughtfully evaluating the current and future needs of our program. Based on swimmer growth, our commitment to high-quality instruction, and a positive team experience, we will be implementing a revised coaching structure for the upcoming season.
For Summer 2026, we plan to fill the following coaching roles:
- Head Coach: Responsible for overall program leadership, practice planning, stroke instruction, and coaching standards. Must be an adult, at least 25 years old.
- Assistant Coach: Focused on on-deck coaching support, in water swimmer instruction, assisting with swimmer development, meet preparation and support including managing entries in Swimtopia. This role also includes Cary City Meet planning and logistics. Must be at least 18 years old.
- Swimmer Experience Coach: Dedicated to team culture, swimmer engagement, communication support, social activities, swimmer development and meet support. This role also includes planning and executing the theme for Cary City and home swim meets. Must be at least 18 years old.
- Junior Coaches: Focused on swimmer support during practices and meet assistance (kid catching and assisting coaches). Must be at least 14 years old, preferably 15+.
Each role is an important part of delivering a strong, well-rounded experience for our swimmers and families.
Applications for all coaching positions will be available February 1 and are due by February 21. I will email the application along with instructions for completion. We encourage anyone who is interested to apply for the role that best aligns with their skills, interests, and availability.
Thank you for your continued involvement and care for our swim team. We truly appreciate the passion and commitment that make the Stingrays so special! And let’s go Stingrays!
Yours swimmingly,
Clay Lohnes
Stingrays President
