Week 1 Recap

** Parents, please share this with your swimmers **

Your Numbers Ninja Reporting for Duty!

The 2026 swim season is officially underway and management has once again fired up the Reserve supercomputer! I use our advanced analytics to crunch the numbers and bring you the stats you crave, like our big winners, jaw-dropping performances, and all the excitement that makes our team special.

We came up a bit short against the Carpenter Village Hammerheads this week by a score of 262 to 235, but those Hammerheads came ready to chomp and we showed them we've got venom in our tails! Now, I have to mention that we had an unusually large number of ties in this meet – so many in fact that I felt like I was watching a Gareth Southgate game! Well, our swimmers apparently studied his playbook because we tied so many races that it was starting to feel like a penalty shootout. With only 27 points separating the teams, this was the kind of meet where every flip turn, every stroke, and every tie-breaking breath made a difference!

First up, our massive shoutout goes to all our new swimmers joining the team this year! This was another bumper crop for the Stingrays! We are thrilled to have you and can't wait to watch you grow and improve throughout the season. Make sure everyone gives our newcomers a warm welcome!

Asher "The Dasher" Baker, Mia "The Swift" Fox, Inna "Little Fin" Mankad, Rowen "The Rower" Mehta, Kinley "The Spark" Mehta, Leland "The Landslide" Mehta, Jennifer "Jenny the Rocket" Samuel, Henry "King" Seifert, and Reyaansh "The Shark" Sharan!

What a group of new swimmers we have this year! Let's talk about some of these names for a second. "The Landslide" Leland Mehta, he's FOUR years old and already has a nickname that sounds like a natural disaster! "The Shark" Sharan, with a name like that, opposing swimmers better watch their toes! And "King" Henry Seifert, at 6 years old he's already claiming the throne! We are very happy to have all of you in the Stingray family!

Each week, I will have our "Stingray Shoutouts," highlighting excellent performances, swimmers showing team spirit, acts of sportsmanship, and so forth. As always, I will spotlight our double (first place in 2 strokes) and triple (first place in all 3 strokes) winners, as well as record-breakers, but I'm also on the hunt for jaw-dropping time improvements and swimmers stepping up when we need them most. Coaches, parents and fellow swimmers who notice anything they think is worthy should send me a note.

Now let's get into the results – our swimmers brought the thunder this week!

Triple Winners

Lucy "Ball of Fury" Dunham

Audrey "Aqua Dynamo" Eades

Katelyn "The Kraken" Lickfold

Jake "Jet Stream" Lohnes

Kaytelin "The Comet" Baughman

David "Pocket Dynamite" Kerekes

Double Winners

Mia "The Swift" Fox

Ethan "Electric Eel" Lohnes

Inna "Little Fin" Mankad

Kinley "The Spark" Mehta

Riley "Ripple Effect" Weeks

Before we wrap up, we need to give a massive shoutout to two unsung heroes who helped make this meet run like a well-oiled swimming machine! Please welcome our new starter Brian "The Trigger" Nilles, who stepped into the role this season and had swimmers launching off the blocks with military precision! And in what can only be described as the most ambitious career move since someone decided to become a cat herder, please welcome Jill "Flying off the Deck" Dunham, who has officially crossed over from Clerk of Course to the coaching deck! "Flying off the Deck" has been working tirelessly to whip our swimmers into shape, and judging by the performances we saw tonight, the kids better keep swimming fast or Coach Jill might just jump in and show them how it's done herself!

Keep training hard, keep that team spirit high, and let's make some waves!

Dive deep, swim strong!
